About Jenny

Jenny K. Gilman is a screenwriter, a short story author, novelist, and teacher. She has a body of work that includes "The Walk," a fantasy feature film screenplay with a battle that begins at death. A short story titled, "The Menagerie," which gives us a glimpse of a freak show love triangle set in Coney Island in the 1970s; and stay tuned for her upcoming novel, "September’s Revolution: The Apocryphal Door."

She relaxes by painting with oils, pastels, and digital art that, like her stories, intertwines light with shadow to create a heartbreaking kind of beauty.

A personal note for my Dad: Garry L. Gilman. Thank you for so many years of images that made our imaginations endless.

Beauty: A surrounding wrapped by love, snapped in a photo, sealed by the heart of a man who had to entomb this moment of joy, and dirt, and scars, and painted on freckles for kids' plays of Igor Apples salesmen, lemonade pawning, big brother's best friends. In a world of chaos & weeds and once spinning tires broken and laying seemingly useless on the ground there is order. A constructed shelf with a put away pearly white pitcher placed in a perfect frame of exact destruction. Beauty.

Jenny stands on the stone looking as if she were trying to read it. Her older siblings, Brad, and Brandie play. The Gentleman, who was buried here, was of no relation. However, the family all believes he appreciated the happy visit and wasn't at all offended by the innocence of little children who stood upon his stone.

The cycle of life.
The smallest of three siblings, Jenny visits a dilapidated gravestone. Later, she revisits the same stone, restored.
